40th Year Celebrations

Members and friends of the Maple Street Co-op celebrated our 40th Anniversary at Sarah’s Unplugged on Saturday 29th February.

Members heard from some of the initial founders, past staff and managers.

Stories were recounted and many members were able to catch up with old friends and chat about their experiences at the Co-op.

Many were past staff, volunteers, suppliers and directors but all are supporters of the Co-op and the values and ideals that make the Co-op such a special part of the Maleny Community.

A revolving photo slide show, a short video and print outs of past newsletters and photos displayed around the venue enabled members to relive the past and reinforce the passion of the past and the ongoing need for the Maple Street Co-operative to continue to provide a healthy choice of quality, organic and local products to the community.

You can view the 40th celebration video here.

40th Annual General Meeting

A Lively and Engaging Evening

Forty-five members attended the Co-op’s 40th Annual General Meeting on the 24th of October. A special feature was a short talk by Matthew Davies, one of a few attendees on the night, who also attended the very first AGM in 1979. Matthew shared the energy and inspiration of the first members who put in hard work to establish the Co-op, especially founder Lorna Huston (who was not able to attend.)

Along with standard business items, there were reports of the year’s achievements  by Business Manager Peter Pamment and Board Chair Kamala Alister. Peter also gave a special presentation on the upcoming expansion plans.

The election for new Board members was lively as eight people nominated for the existing four places on the Board. We welcome Robyn Harper and Patricia Lake as new members to the Board, and welcome back Elke Watson and James Grimard who have served as temporary directors over the last year. A big thank you to Janet Lutje as an outgoing director.
