Fi Emberton

I’ve lived in Maleny with my partner Ian since 2013. Before that we lived in Sydney, New Zealand, and the UK. We're really settled here now -it's the longest we've lived anywhere.

My favourite things about the Co-op are its fresh produce and local products. One of my passions is buying locally, so a good chunk of our inc0ome lands in the Co-op's tills!

I came into the Co-op in 2019 to work on the expansion into what was the ice-cream shop. I helped with the new layout, sourcing local furniture makers and aiming to give the members what they'd asked for in surveys and interviews - more space, light and to maintain the unique look and feel. I stayed on afterwards, assisting Peter the manager with various projects.

As with many Malenyites, my life is very full of projects, volunteering and socialising. It's a pleasant change from the 60 hour weeks throughout my career!  When I'm not working, I love landcare, hiking, gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time with Ian, my friends and my dog.

I am pretty stoked that more and more people are turning to the Co-op for their shopping. The Co-op is truly local, truly independent and I'm proud to be an owner-member.
