Peter Pamment
I joined the Co-op in 1983. Always an active shopping member, I have participated in many other member roles from assisting the board negotiate the
99-year lease, being a director in the early 2000’s when the Credit Union was offering financial assistance, to now a staff role as Business Manager.
I retired in my early thirties from a technical role at the University of Queensland having achieved first class honours in psychometrics and computer science to a 65ha farm at Conondale. Being a “drop out hippy” living simply and being self-sufficient and raising kids in the sticks appealed to me. I then joined in with others becoming heavily involved with local community development via the many Co-ops in Maleny.
Assisting with the development of the Credit Union system software and a board member for over 18 years got me deeply into both business & finance and then off facilitating micro-finance and banking development in the pacific region.
I learnt a few useful skills in retail, governance and care for country over a few decades of committee roles in a large stallholder run market and as a First Officer and Group Officer with the Rural Fire Service.
Now a townie, when not working at the Co-op, I spend time gardening, cooking, walking the dog and maintaining an old Queenslander. Travel with my partner is also up there, so if you can’t find me – hopefully I am off sightseeing & playing somewhere nice.
